What three things do you need to create a cool brand?

Kuba Wieczorek leads the marketing and creative push for eve sleep. In three brief years they have gone from start-up to serious player in the mattress market across Europe. I worked on the branding, but its perky yellow livery and get up and go design language all cascaded out of a line Kuba coined just prior to launch: ‘every great day starts the night before’.

When he’s not building his sleep empire Kuba is a talented and award-winning photographer, free spirit and a quietly, eccentrically cool human being.

So Kuba, if pushed what three things do you need to create a cool brand?

1. a point of view – believe in something. Call it a purpose, belief, point of difference. This will be what defines you and keeps you different and unique

2. don’t be afraid to break the rules – but do it with charm

3. Remember you’re only cool when someone else says you are, and that’s probably because you’re doing something simple, and authentic. Don’t set out to be a cool brand or you will probably fail
